 Internships

Current research needs:

Climate Crisis

  • Create an archive of articles (electronic) covering the human rights implications of the climate crisis.
  • Write a more in-depth overview of the human rights implications of the climate crisis, to be published on the HRHR website.
  • Update HRHR’s policy recommendations.
  • Write a two-page paper including an overview and HRHR’s policy recommendations.

Death Penalty

  • Using our existing materials as well as other materials, create an easy-to-read document outlining the reasons why the death penalty is flawed and ineffective.  Graphic design experience is preferred.

Genocide

  • Update genocide background information, reflecting the current on-the-ground situation in genocide-stricken areas.
  • Update HRHR policy recommendations

Slavery and Human Trafficking

  • Compress HRHR’s current recommendations into an easy-to-read pamphlet.  Basic graphic design experience preferred.

Torture and the Rule of Law

  • Update HRHR policy recommendations.
  • Conduct in-depth research into the continuance of government and the State of Emergency provisions.

General

  • Compile articles for bi-weekly human rights update.
  • Compile articles about communicating and framing human rights issues, especially climate change.
  • Produce easy-to-read document about framing human rights issues.
  • Conduct surveys of candidates and all members of Congress in HRHR’s human rights issue areas.

Volunteers

High Road depends on volunteers to sustain our crucial work.   High Road volunteers contribute in a number of different ways, including:

  • member outreach
  • communications and publicity
  • event setup and support
  • maintaining/updating the HRHR website
  • research about targeted human rights issues
  • film and media work
  • database management
  • administrative support
